Dr. Lee’s research agenda focuses on understanding the social and behavioral determinants of health in the context of global challenges, including climate change, environmental exposures, and digital media environments. Their work advances knowledge in the climate x equity x movement health nexus by bridging social theories and critical epidemiology. Dr. Lee has received multiple recognitions for their contributions to research and knowledge translation. In 2025, Dr. Lee was awarded the OPC Research Award (Outdoor Play Canada) and the Best Commentary Award from the Journal of Physical Activity & Health. In 2024, Dr. Lee received the King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Government of Canada. Dr. Lee currently serves as Section Editor (Health) for Gender Issues (Springer Nature) and Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Physical Activity & Health. Dr. Lee contributes to global and national health promotion initiatives through their leadership role on the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee of the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, Research Advisory Group for ParticipACTION, and as a Co-Founder and Co-Chair of PLaTO-Net (Play, Teach, and Learn Outdoors Network).
