- DSP&AI Lab Selected as Collaborative Research Team with Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA)
- DSP&AI Lab was chosen for an international collaborative research program supported by Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) in Beijing, China and will be researching deep learning-based acoustic echo cancellation topic with the Speech Group researchers in MSRA for the next year. Especially, this research will provide a chance to work as an international intern in MSRA for a certain period.

- A Study on Text-to-Speech paper by Professor Hong-Goo Kang's Research Team was accepted to INTERSPEECH 2021
- A paper written by a DSP&AI research team led by Professor Hong-Goo Kang was accepted to INTERSPEECH 2021, which is one of the top conferences in the speech processing area. The title of paper is “LiteTTS: A Decoder-free Light-weight Text-to-wave Synthesis Based on Generative Adversarial Networks”, led by Huu-Kim Nguyen and was collaborated with one of the top speech research teams in Korea, Naver Clova Voice.

- Profs. Yu, Kim, Hwang, & Ha receive a ~US$1.2M grant from 2021 Basic Research Lab by National Research Foundation of Korea for their research titled, “High Resolution Neural Mapping & Neurodegenerative Diseases Monitoring using Multimodal Methodologies.” The research team will develop a novel fMRI compatible implantable electronics system and deep-learning based data processing tool for analyzing neurovegetative diseases and delivering treatments for them.

- Professor Ki Jun Yu's research group Young Uk Cho (integrated course, 7th semester) was finally selected for the 2021 academic research support (Ph.D. student research scholarship) under the theme of “Flexible Transparent Neural Implants for High Resolution Neural Monitoring and Deep Brain Stimulation”. The academic research support will be funded by the Korea Research Foundation (NRF) for two years to select excellent PhD graduate students and allow them to immerse themselves in academic and research through financial support.

This project is a cooperation project between the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Fire Agency with a budget of approximately 10 million USD, lasting for a total of 2 years and 8 months (May 2021 – Dec. 2023).
