- Professor Donghyun Kim Elected As Fellow of SPIE
- Professor Donghyun Kim of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yonsei University, was elected as Fellow of the SPIE in 2021 for the achievement in the area of biomedical imaging and sensing based on plasmonics. Professor Kim received Ph. D. at MIT and worked at Corning Inc. and Cornell University before joining Yonsei in 2004 and has been recognized as one of the leaders in biophotonic imaging and sensing technology. The SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, was founded in 1955. More than 255,000 members in 183 countries are active for advancement of light-based technology.

- System IC Research Center for Automotive Semiconductors
- Our Semiconductor Group (P.I. Kang, Sungho and 10 others) is selected for the “System IC Research Center” by MSIT. The semiconductor group formed a consortium with three other departments, and 13 companies including Samsung Electronics. Through this project, we aim to cultivate system IC engineers specialized in automotive semiconductors with a budget of $9M over the next 6 years.

- Yongtae Lee (Ph. D. Candidate) and Sangwoo Lee (Ph. D. Alumni), professor Youngcheol Chae’s research group, will be presenting in 2021 Symposia on VLSI Circuits (SOVC), which is an excellent conference in system IC design and will be held in Kyoto on June 13. Each paper will be presented on the subject of a high-precision gas sensor for measuring harmful gas and a low-power, high-resolution ADC. They were accepted by achieving the capability to overcome the existing technical limitations through innovative ideas.

- Dr. Chun-Kwon Lee joined Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Pukyong National University as an Assistant Professor in April 2021. Dr. Chun-Kwon Lee received his Ph.D. degree at Yonsei University from Power Informatics Lab. in Sep. 2019 under supervision of Dr. Yong-June Shin. Prior to his employment of PNU, he was Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Smart Distribution Laboratory, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) Research Institute.

- Prof. Seong-Ook Jung’s Research Team, Accepted in 2021 Symposium on VLSI Circuits
- Prof. Seong-Ook Jung’s research about write- and performance-assist cells for high yield and low power SRAM design was accepted for oral presentation in Symposium on VLSI Circuits, the most renowned journal on device and circuit field. This research was made by Ph.D. candidate Keonhee Cho and professor Seong-Ook Jung in VLSI system laboratory.

- Prof. Sohn’s Team Published a Paper on IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI)
- The paper “On the Confidence of Stereo Matching in a Deep-learning Era: A Quantitative Evaluation” has been accepted on IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (Impact Factor: 17.861, JCR Ranking Top 0.8%). This work is jointly conducted by two of the most prestigious labs in stereo matching as international joint research between Yonsei University and the University of Bologna, Italy. Prof. Seungryong Kim (Korea University) who received Ph.D. from Sohn’s lab, and Dr. Poggi (University of Bologna) participated as co-authors. Prof. Dongbo Min (Ewha Womans University) and Prof. Sunok Kim (Korea Aerospace University) from Prof. Sohn’s lab participated as co-authors.
