The Justice and Civil Leadership major aims to develop future leaders with keen awareness of, and specialized training in, issues relating to justice for individuals and society in the public and private sectors, both domestically and internationally. The Justice and Civil Leadership major, by deploying methodologies from the humanities and social sciences, allows students to acquire and deepen their knowledge in the fields of philosophy, politics, economics and sociology. In addition, though training in legal theory, legal philosophy, law and society and other related fields, the major aims to cultivate the critical civic leadership skills necessary to resolve the critical issues facing governments and civil society through public discourse. The educational purpose is to help students gain skills such as normative analysis and judgment, policymaking, planning and administration, creative problem solving, etc.
